In November 2004, Jo and I found out that we were going to have a baby! At the same time, Jo was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia - a medical term that means her bone marrow was failing; it was no longer doing its job of producing white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. On June 17th, 2005, Jo gave birth to a beautiful baby girl - Anna Claire Szymanski. Anna's health was perfect and has continued to be perfect! This Blog is dedicated to Jo’s journey along the road to recovery.

Progress!!!
I hate to jinx anything, but we do have news that we have not had in over 16 months. Last Thursday, Jo's platelets were 14,000. On Friday, they were 15,000 and today, they were 21,000. Although these are very exciting numbers, we are not yet quite ready to run naked through Larimer Square as did Bronco fans after the 1998 Super Bowl victory. However, if you live in Highlands Ranch, you may want to peek out the window now and then...

That's great news! Every little bit is reason to celebrate. We'll wait to hear about the streaking party :-))
That is fantastic news, but you better wait until it warms up a little before you shuck your clothes and hit the streets. Remember, Jo isn't Polish!

Tim and Jo:
I am so happy to hear the exciting news. Even though you said not to get too excited how can anyone hold back when any good news is great news.
As I read all the postings I can see the Lord working in your lives not just with this good news but making you stronger as a couple and united as a family unit. Love and Kiss to Anna.
Keep strong, God is working.

Jo,
I just got back from Ft. Wayne where they held in your honor a blood drive. It gave me so much pleasure to be able to donate for you. It was a wonderful event and your name was mentioned often. Hopefully, with the good news we have just all received you will be able to join us for this event next year and bring bring baby Anna and certainly that handsome husband of yours.

It's sooo wonderful to hear good news! Now you can get on with breaking in the new house :) You are both truely inspirational - to see the art of balance in the face of challenge is really rare and greatly appreciated. Do I sound like a burned out therapist? :) If you need anything, I'm a stay at home mom with Anjelika monday thru thursday and we live close - please call and give us a reason to leave the house!

Hi again... I'm new to the blog and was just reading the archives while Anjelika sleeps. Tim, I'm polish, too, and I'll have you know that Anjelika LOVES polka! She is now 3 months old, and polka always makes her laugh, whether I'm doing it with her or just her feet are doing it! She falls asleep to night club 2, and the cuban motion of ramba usually calms her down. I'm too tired to do actual cha with her, but when I do it with her feet she usually laughs... She also enjoys east coast swing, and doing dips. For anyone out there who needs help finding their center, doing nc2 holding a 15 pound baby definately makes one more aware of moving from the center, otherwise the quads really feel it! Her major cranky pants moments often respond to the stair master...

Hello Jo, Tim and Anna, I have been following your progress since last December when I first heard of your illness, I back tracked to the beginning and now click on every week, been with you every step of the way and I was so pleased to read Tim's latest letter 'Progress', I fell now you have been right down to the bottom of the ladder and this is the first step up again, I pray you will continue on the up and up until you reach the top. I wonder Jo if you remember a booking you did made by my teacher Alayne Moore to the Westfield School at Yeovil in Somerset England, we all enjoyed your visit and having seen you I now feel I know you just that little bit more. Alayne and all the class wish you all the best and pray for your complete and speedy recovery. You are a truly wonderful family. God bless you all.
