I wish I had some good news, but I don't. Jo is having a very tough time dealing with her headaches. Now and then, the pain medication relieves the headache, but then Jo usually feels nauseous.
There is no good solution to this problem in the immediate future. It is possible that the intrathecal morphine shot that Jo received two weeks ago has cause a spinal fluid leak, causing the headaches. The treatment for that is a procedure to attempt to patch the hole. The anesthesiologists are unwilling to attempt that procedure because Jo would have to come off of her blood thinners, which would put her at risk of more blood clots. Since she already has a blood clot, it would be extremely imprudent to put her in a situation where she risks even more blood clots.
The best solution seems to be to tough it out until her body repairs the leak on its own (if there is indeed a leak). How long that will take is unknown, but it could be a couple of weeks. Our primary concern right now is identifying what kind of medication will get Jo through the rough times ahead.

Tim - I suggest you have a Chiropractor go into the hospital and do some manipulation. It can't hurt any of her other treatment and may just be the answer. Her body probably is totally out of line from her hip surgeries and having no leg to stand on to one and then to both. My Chiropractor, Rob Jackson, is wonderful. His phone # is 303-237-9617. You can use me as a reference. He teaches all over the world in addition to his practice in Applewood. I would be in a wheelchair today without him. I have been seeing him since 1974. He literally adjusts me from head to toe. Give Jo a hug from me and let her know that we are still praying for her. Judy Mathias (JAM)

I totally agree with the chiropractor suggestion. I too have been seeing one for years and I hava a friend who had a severe headache with no explanation and the chiropractor was the only one to help. It's certainly worth a shot.

So sorry to hear about the setback.
I was so impressed with your determination and dedication when I saw you at the Pikes Peak Line Dance...or Bust Workshop in the Springs last Saturday. Hope it wasn't too much too soon! You're such an inspiration to us all!
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi Tim, Jo and Anna,
I read your story today and can't even imagine what all of you must be going through. I have to say my heart goes out to you all. The first time I've ever seen Jo was at the workshop last weekend, and she looked beautiful. Prior to seeing her, there were many commnents around the table about what a lovely person she is, inside and out. After reading all the comments, there isn't anything I can add except my heartfelt prayers on a full and speedy recovery. Thanks for keeping us posted. Looking forward to reading more and more good news in the near future. Hope to see you up and dancing soon! Daisy

Jo -
You have been so strong for so long during this struggle to regain your health - I hope that the headaches leave as mysteriously as they began. Know that the power of prayer can work miracles - so trust in your faith and know that there are many hearts sending good thoughts and wishes your way.
Love - rms ;)
