Today was Jo's 84th day with her 3-pronged CVC hanging out of her chest. Tonight is her first night post-transplant without it. Dr. Anderlini tried to create as much suspense as possible and eventually he said, "I can't think of any reason not to take it out." Jo and Meema just about came out of their skin!
In November 2004, Jo and I found out that we were going to have a baby! At the same time, Jo was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia - a medical term that means her bone marrow was failing; it was no longer doing its job of producing white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. On June 17th, 2005, Jo gave birth to a beautiful baby girl - Anna Claire Szymanski. Anna's health was perfect and has continued to be perfect! This Blog is dedicated to Jo’s journey along the road to recovery.

Day +69 Another Big Surprise

Congratulations! I've been following your story--teach line dancing at the Cascades Senior Center in Sterling, VA. I was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma/sarcoma a year ago last October. The support and prayers of my dancing friends has helped me stay positive through surgery, chemo, and radiation. I, too, am fighting a battle--check up to check up. Every day I wake up and thank God--"this is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it." Your upbeat attitude is a wonderful example!
More fantastic news, Jo & Tim - I'm so happy for you!! Another stepping stone towards your full recovery! Love to you all...
Awesome!!!...we feel your excitement...another step forward ... Congrats... Much love, M&M
WOW! I am so very happy for you. YOU GO GIRL! (Hey - You always have been a "Go Girl". Why should you stop now? LOL)
FYI - Sunday, January 30th my dance group, The Berkshire County Line Dancers (North Adams,MA) will be dancing *Just for Jo*. We are having a pizza party / all request dance. We've been practicing many, many, many of your dances. Our goal that night is not to just raise money for your cause but also to see how many of your dances we can fit into our dancing night. Everyone is looking forward to this and ALL wish you their very, very best.
