I know that I have a duty to entertain my reading audience, but this shoulder surgery has given me absolutely no material to write about. I asked Jo to give me the real scoop on the pain and she replied, "It's no worse than a paper cut." If the next shoulder is this easy, I may have to take a sabbatical from the blog.
Jo spent one night in the hospital and she was home by noon the next day. She took pain killers for about 48 hours and then she switched to Tylenol. As long as she doesn't move her arm in a lateral motion, she really doesn't feel much pain at all. The lateral movement must be limited for 4 to 6 weeks.
Just before going in for surgery, Jo did have another CT Scan of her head and the blood clots in her brain are completely gone! On the PNH front, Dr. Alvarez thinks that things look good enough right now that we will put any further discussions of Soliris off until we go back to the NIH in February for Jo's annual checkup.
Remember, life is all about perspective. If you have to have shoulder surgery, go have lunch with somebody who just had a total hip replacement. If you have to have a hip replacement, go have lunch with somebody that just had open heart surgery. If you have to have open heart surgery, go have lunch with somebody that just changed Anna's last poopy diaper!

Glad the shoulder surgery went well and what great news about the clots. Hope the next shoulder goes just as well or even better!
You're right about life's perspectives. My friend still talks about the one time he changed my daughter's diaper... she has just had her 22nd Birthday June 9th. I think he's accomplished lots after that ordeal! :-))

What wonderful news and what a wonderful spiritual lift for our "Team" as we enter RMSG. We missed seeing Jo and Rita at the D4D and hope you are both better. Loving prayers! jam
Jo you are doing sooooooooo fantastic. You are a remarkabe lady. Yes, Tim as much as we love your blog up-dates. You need a bog time-out. Anna, some day you will learn about time-outs. ha! See you all soon. Aunt Renae
Tim, it has been so wonderful to be able to follow Jo's surgeries and her recovery as you have written on the Web Site. Many thanks. We are praying for Jo and keep her in our thoughts often.
I am also writing to tell you that we have not forgotten you. It is a taxing job to watch a loved one go through so much and not be able to fix it. Your attitude is exemplary and uplifting for those of us who may be in the momentary bogs of thought.
Please keep up the blogs for your sake as well as ours, because we are reading even if we are not responding. Thanks again Tim.

Big "Hi" to the Symanski's,
Well now I understand why you've been on my heart so much. Glad to hear this surgery was so much easier. Of course Jeff and I are still praying for you all. And it is encouraging to hear Tim's upbeat words, and of Jo's tremendous faith and inner strength. I am learning something from you Tim, everytime I read your words. You are a very wise man. How blessed Jo must feel to have you and you to have her. What a great example you BOTH are. Thanks for that. Please let Jo know I still watch DVD's of her competing, I am still improving my dance thanks to her.
Jeff and I are doing great but long for a visit with all our Colorado friends, at this time we have no plans to return as we have trips planned to visit our grandchildren. But I'm sure that visit will happen eventually.
By the way, Anna is growing into a beautiful little girl. What a sweetie.
Love from Deb & Jeff Hughes
You are both a testament to love, faith, patience and endurance. Your triumphs and unending positive attitudes keep the rest of us in check. But Tim, nothing about the price of your latte at the hospital?
You continue to be in our thoughts, our prayers and our hearts,
John and Paula Taylor
Your sense of humor must keep Jo's spirits up. I periodically look her to see how she is doing but keep her in my prayers often. You are an amazing team. Love and Prayers - Anne Marie
I notice it must now be Anna's 2nd birthday. I can't wait for the piccies.
I hope Jo soon makes a complete recovery---you can't fault her on bravery. XX
Thank you for keeping us aware of your path - it is humbling and inspiring to read about. We want you to know that many of us think of you when we dance in central Alabama - from Angela's Stompers, we hold you in our hearts
Jo, you are such an insparation to us all. You were a wonderful person before these problems and will soon be back as if nothing had happened. We hope that time is not too long. Lots of love, Anne & Chris Stamp UK. XX
